Dietmar and all:
There is a nice little book: IN THE SHADOW OF WOUNDED KNEE by Roger L. Di Silvestro, 2005, which is the story of Plenty Horses' trial, the life and assassination of LT. Casey, the murders of a party of Lakota hunters by the Culbertson brothers, and the times in which all of this occurred. For anyone interested in these events, it makes a good read and a handy reference tool.
There are a lot of photos, some of marginal quality, in the book; but I don't know if any of them would be new to those of you who are deeply interested in the Lakota.

Thanks for the tip, harpskiddie. I haven´t got the book, yet. By the way, there´s also a chapter about these events in the Frink/Barthelmess book about photographer Christian Barthelmess (Photographer on an Army Mule).

-continue of the short message-,clause te LBH was the best reply of the indians nations of natives to the continue aggression to their home land and their right to live there as always they did before, against a"governement of bandidos" and his army who decided ,thanks to their absolut major numer of soldiers and criminals,to close all the indians(the real owners of all americans land) into reserves and to became the new rouler of this continent!and whitout minimum sensibility they build this 5 faces of "presidentes" of M.Rushmore on the blak hills(natives sacre land).most of you americans, and also us european, somethimes should look back all the big mistakes our old generations done, and try to undestand that some errors mustn't happen anymore! so give back to the natives all that who belong to natives! And never forget the acts of eroes as crazy horse or more recently,Che Guevara ,this was really great people, warriors who fight for ideals and not for money!

Agree with much of what you say . . . but alas . . . it's over.
The Indians tried but were steam-rolled and over whelmed for various reasons.
Not much we can say or do . . . but hopefully lessons will be learned . . . but that seems a dream with all the ugly stuff still going on world-wide.
Do what you can . . . and hope others do to!

This site is pretty fun all the way around, and there are several high quality photos of Plenty Horses. To the left of the page click the site search feature and query "Plenty Horses" or just spend hours looking through the photos like I did. Right up there with Mao. I'll give you Crazy Horse, but I would take a step or two back and maybe reassess the Che business. Have any tall buildings where you live that you might want a little shorter? Best wishes, Fred.

Thanks for the link, Michael. Interesting photos. VivaCH, when you read my posts you see that I have the deepest respect amd sympathy for NA culture and history. But it´s too simple to see history and life itself only in Black and White, don´t you think...? I think you know that already, Fred...

Hi Dietmar -
I agree very much with your ‘Black & White’ comment.
As I (more or less) said somewhere else on this board, men drew in the canvas and Libbie painted on the colors. We just have to figure out where she painted a little outside of the lines.

Vivacrazyhorse -
My personal tendency is to not argue with anyone over his/hers beliefs. Each has the right to believe what he believes and to express it. But too much of an insult to Crazy Horse has been expressed here for me to just let it go.
Crazy Horse was roaming his plains and defending his people’s way of life. To the end he was doing what he felt necessary to protect his people from a foreign concept of societal structure. Crazy sought to impose nothing on ‘white’ society.
‘Che’ was off in Cuba, Bolivia and other places not at all his (was he not an Argentine?), seeking to impose his concept of a societal structure and liberally murdering those that disagreed with it.
Had ‘Che’ been a contemporary of Crazy Horse and in Crazy Horse’s homeland pulling that crap he would have quickly found himself lying in the grass somewhere without his hair.
Crazy Horse is a true American hero. ‘Che’ is just a decoration on a t-shirt and has no place on this board.
