First off, I was the one who said you might enjoy beginning a project of extrapolating Custer's kills from the records and extant books you can find on his role in the ACW. In the real world, research by others can be a particularly private and proprietary kind of thing--especially when you are looking to publish your findings--and anything that might be considered "new" information just isn't thrown out to the public because *Strange* requested it. If you bothered to finish high school, went to college--avoiding the mass orgies, of course--got your degree in history, you'd well know the drill when it comes to scholarly pursuits.
Speaking for myself, I am not interested in such garish statistics as "kills" and "captures" ... in fact, I'm not a stat person at all (unless it comes to batting average and OBP), so I can't help. Sometimes, if the numbers aren't there, one has to take the bull by the horns and create those statistics themselves. Make it your project, Strange. I gave you a book title where to start ... now stop your whining and do something.

Strange, you protest that you are a serious student of matters to do with Custer and are eager for information about his size and strength, and his personal feats in battle. You also stated in your Intro thread that you obtained Jeffrey Wert's book "Custer" and thereafter was hooked on all things do with the subject. If you have read Wert's book thoroughly I am surprised that you have not mentioned the detailed description of him by Annie Gibson Roberts that appears on Page 293. There are also some descriptions in that book of what he personally did during some of the Civil War actions in which he participated, that should give you some idea of his martial capabilities. It is that kind of slapdash approach to knowledge seeking, combined with your tendency to be overtly controversial and your use of far too many words to explain yourself that have alienated the people on these boards. It is a shame that you do not do your obviously bright mind justice by curbing your excesses, having more self discipline and respecting the fact that some topics are bound to affect the sensibilities of others.

Hunk Now thats more like it! And I wholly agree with all of the above. I started the Custer Figures board and numerous other posts to cross check Wert and see what stuck. I definitely will apologize for off kilter ramblings. Every thing I do is straight from my head and I use a photographic memory to recall things, but I'm into so much that I often can't help but reference my other perameters in order to demonstrate my points. If people can't get what I'm saying, and I can wholly understand, then I don't want to waste too much space around here and thats why I have the "strange must go" poll to perceive my standing. Its the only fair thing to do really. So if I can't get my points across and if people around here bear such an animosity, then I just go my separate way and leave it at that. I'm not playing any games, I'm not getting emotional, I'm not a sick and disturbed lonely boy and I have more important business to attend to other than playing chit chat on the net. Simple as that. I wanted to hang around because I like hearing what many of you have to say but since the feelings are not mutual then well.........I got monster movies to make and better ways of spending my time looking up history instead of bickering to and fro if thats gonna be the case. I don't know what "alienating" means, other than to make people feel out of place in a general way, so if I'm doing that, then once again, maybe I shouldn't be here anyway. Stranger

Abby, I apologise on behalf of our maverick member Strange because he has neither the maturity nor intelligence to make his own apologies. Rest easy with the knowledge that by name calling he inadvertently reveals that you got to him. The reactions we get from him plus his almost homo-erotic fascination with GAC makes me wonder if he is not perhaps kin to another person who believed that Custer was like the three wise monkeys. Its a scary thought!

But alas behold, the Strange One will hold your challenges any day! I'll consume your brains and drain the fluids from your skulls until alas I will have the ultimate atomic energies to spread the greatness and Glory of George Armstrong Custer to the utmost heights!
You have all called for the Strange One! You dug him up...........He is here....he lives!.............he has risen from the dirt and blackened ashes to ride the hurricane and consume your existence! He emerged from the shadows of the night, the un-dead horseman, ready to reach through the fires and brimstones to seize the hearts of the fallen dead and awaken the mighty general! Custer will ride again! He's lives in your darkest fears, he comes to you in the form of a tattered and rotting pile of bleached and and bloody bones with fires shooting from his icy blue glare as his golden mustache be stained with the dried blood of they who speak behind his shoulder while he lay in his crypt! Oooooooooh, you have angered the mighty spirit of Long Hair!
Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do , when LONG HAIR rides wild on YOU!
Hee, hee, hee, the 7th will ride again!
The Stranger is rising, he is near, Custer is listening, do you hear? No apologies, no mercy, match you your wits with Custer's avenger!

I'll be more apt to believe that you can talk for ol' Autie after you've read a few more books and other source materials. Until then, stop this silliness. If you had read more about Your Hero, you'd well know he never took himself as seriously as you need to take him.

Trish, didn't Liam Neeson play the part of 'Darkman' in the movie? Perhaps he could play the part of GAC in the upcoming movie "The Blood Lust of Count Custula"? Gee, I hope I can sleep tonight.

Hunk- quite right about the "homo-erotic" nature of some of Strange's posts. To each his own. Myles is my fantasy guy and I'd sell a kidney for five minutes with him. But even so, I've not spent much time pondering his musculature or breathing heavily over the thought of his darn mustache. Well, ok , you got me on that one..

I'm striving to find some semblance of civility, relevance or a redeeming feature to this guy's posts. I'm afraid I'm not so forgiving as the rest of you. A little humor now and then, even a lot, is welcome; but I fail to see any humor in this junk, unless Strange likes people laughing behind their hands at him.
At least CSS had some sources for some of his mostly nonsense, and it was only when he started indulging in personalities that his presence became unwelcome. Even then I left it to the moderator to make what seemed to be the obvious and correct decision, and I'll do so in this instance also.
I will not, however, contribute anything to any thread on which this chap posts any of his juvenile claptrap.

I don't blame you, Gordie.
Strange deleted his most recent post on this board. I did not.

gawsh, the "hottest" thing I've been doing is striking up correspondence with an English actor I was in love with 50 years ago.
Just finding him was an adventure.

I've been told that the Custer family absolutely will NOT ever allow exhumation of GAC.
