The Indians killed Custer--unless one of his family or a member of the clan gave him a push, a coup de grace out of sympathy. You can't change that fact, as much as you would like to saddle Benteen and Reno with it.
the "coup de grace" is a theory without any evidence.
And yes, the Indians killed Custer, yes, there are evidence that it's because Benteen and Reno never came, and yes, the Indians were just the poor organized army they always have been, and yes, Custer killed a lot of them (Yellow Horse : 83 warriors killed on the field and other died from their wounds. Red Horse : 136 Indians were killed and 160 wounded. Crazy Horse : A lot of warriors died from their wounds), and yes, in fact, it was not a glorious victory.
