I don't know how many books Terry published, but I have 21 personally inscribed paperbacks by him. The largest number was from the Plainsman series. There was a trilogy about his alleged son, and there was the mountainman series, which originally made him famous. Just guessing, I'd say around 30??? Man, what a loss this man has been to his readers!

How about movies? Were any of his books made into movies?
Thanks to everyone who's helping me out here.

bgirl06, while on his tour in 1997 I asked Terry if they were giong to make movies out of any of his books. He said he'd been approached, but he took a dim view of Hollywood and was afraid if he turned over control, they'd butcher his books, and I don't think he wanted movies to turn his books into mockeries. I also asked him if he ever ran out of ideas for books, and he said it was just the opposite: so many ideas, so little time. Unfortunately, time ran out for him about four years later. He'd just his Nez Perce book and was going to start on the Apache Wars. What a loss.

If memory serves, Red Cloud's Revenge is the second of the Plainsman series and is about Ft. Phil Kearny and Ft. C.F. Smith and the Wagon Box and Hayfield fights which took place on successive days, August 2 and 3, 1867. (Maybe the 1st and 2nd, but one after the other.) It follows Sioux Dawn, which tells of the building of Ft. Phil Kearny, the fight at Crazy Woman Crossing and the Fetterman battle. Both outstanding books!

bgirl, if you care to email me, I can email you what I remember about Red Cloud's Revenge. I can also email you pictures of the sites where most of the action took place, such as Ft. Phil Kearny, the Fetterman battle and the Wagon Box Fight. Actually, I think Fetterman was covered in Sioux Dawn. Can't remember if my email shows up on my profile, but if not: frankboddn@aol.com. Be glad to help any way I can. Frank

I'm new to Terry Johnston's work (which I absolutely love), and I have a question for any fans of the Titus Bass series: It seems to me that "Scratch" kills the same Arapaho twice; the one with the initials T. B. carved into his chest. Scratch and Josiah kill such an Arapaho in "One Eyed Dream" and then Scratch kills another in "Ride the Moon Down." Anyone else ever noticed this, or have an answer? Thanks.

How about some of you Custer fiction readers posting these books on the wiki? "Custer in fiction." C'mon, with all the information here, how about adding a few pages on the wiki page? Any other LBH subjects would be welcomed as well. LBH movies? Contributions?
I have one page posted and am working on another....

Scout, what is so strange about Terry C. Johnston's writing is that he wrote something like 25 or so of his Plainsman series with the same fictional character, Seamus Donegan. But what's so weird is that Seamus took part in every battle known to man on the plains, but then is left out of the LBH except that he and another person are the first to stumble upon the battlefield, after he had taken part of the Rosebud fight. I wish I'd have thought to ask Terry why he didn't have him wind up at the LBH after the Rosebud and maybe wind up with Reno in the valley fight. We'll never know.

You all need to check it out and add your own. It's another way to collaborate, and it's not being used to its potential. Here's the link to it: www.seedwiki.com/wiki/lbha/Thanks, Scout!
