Just received this book from Amazon today, and would be interested to know what other people think of it.
IMHO, there's plenty in it that some of us would argue with, and his citations indicate he's drawing on only a small pool of sources; but I like his approach. It's very rational and even-handed. Some thought-provoking theories, especially about Company C. Plus he raises one or two questions that I don't recall having seen touched on before.
Good maps, too. As well as using graphics, he's had the brilliant idea of superimposing cavalry and Indian movements onto aerial photographs -- excellent for understanding the terrain at a glance. (Some bizarre effects, such as seeing Reno's men charging across a six-lane highway!!! -- but great for clarity.)
What does anyone else think?
