The cannon was made from relics collected from Civil War battlefields where General Custer had fought. The gun contained 4 pounds of brass buttons, 4 regimental and 3 division bugles, 80 buckles,23 spurs, 2 brass keys from Ford's theatre.... www.lindapages.com/cwar/josephtrax.pdf

Helen Hannon, in an article wrote; "Trax himself was described as "a quaint veteran" and a "droll talker" brimming over with patriotism and can spout war from dawn until sunset." The fate of the "Custer Gun" is not known.
